This evergreen tree grows to about 10 meters in height and has bright green leaves and nail-shaped rose-peach flower buds which turn, upon drying, a deep red brown. These are beaten from the tree and dried.
History
Tincture of cloves has been used for skin infections like scabies, athletes foot etc, for digestive upsets, to ease pain of childbirth, to dress the umbilical cord and notably for toothache.
