Lemon essential oil has an intensely fruity, citrusy aroma with light fizzy top notes. Known as something of a ‘cure all’ essential oil, it is antibacterial, astringent and cleansing and is particularly useful for oily skin, relieving physical tiredness and to overcome post viral fatigue.

This thorny evergreen tree grows up to 6 meters in height and has dark green serrated oval leaves with pink/white flowers that are highly perfumed. The fruit turns from green to yellow when ripe.

It was used in European countries for infections such as fever, malaria and typhoid. Taken internally for disorders such as arthritis and rheumatism among other ailments. The fruit has a good content of vitamins A, B and C, and an ounce a day was given to sailors in the Royal Navy to alleviate scurvy and other vitamin deficiencies. Used as a food seasoning and as a fragrance component in soaps, cosmetics and perfumes.
