Aromatherapy is often considered an alternative medicine. It’s all about using aromatic Essential oils from different plants to alter your mood. This time of year usually sees an increase in coughs, colds and flu and with Christmas fast approaching many are bracing themselves for more than a few health challenges – from stress and headaches through to sore feet and digestive problems. To help, we have put together 12 days of essential oils to ease you through the Christmas period. All of these spice oils have powerful anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties so whilst you are using them to fragrance your home during the holidays, they will be helping to protect you against all those nasty bugs. Try them for yourself and clients – or even give them as practical gifts for friends and family.

THE ESSENTIALS…

Pine Needle essential oil

For that enlivening real tree aroma nothing compares to pine needle essential oil. To bring the natural smell to your artificial tree fill a water-spray bottle with around 50mls of water, add 5 or 6 drops of pine essential oil, a little washing-up liquid, and shake the mixture vigorously. Now lightly spray the tree, and be sure to avoid spraying near polished wooden surfaces.

If you don’t have a spray bottle, just put a few drops of the essential oil on cotton-wool balls and hide them inside the tree. You can also use a few drops of grapefruit essential oil with pine to give an extra uplifting, fresh effect that really lifts the spirits.

Clove Bud essential oil
